Opflow, a publication of the American Water Works Association, recently highlighted the Santiago Trail Nitrate Removal Facility in their monthly photographic profile feature. The project was named the “Large Project of the Year” (over $10 million) by the Phoenix Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Fann Environmental served as the Design Builder for this facility operated by Arizona Water Company in Casa Grande, Arizona. The facility removes nitrates from the groundwater in an area that is known for excessive levels due to a history of agriculture. The plant will allow Arizona Water Company to meet the US Environmental Protection Agencies safe level requirements for nitrates.
